The Great Adventure Lab

Three-day Girls Get Science Camp

half day/full day camp

Rising Grades 2-6

July 1-3.

Registration is OPEN! Register now!

A note from our Founder:

Here at the GrAd Lab, we are doing our best to show more girls that robotics and engineering are super fun for every kid, not just boys. If you've attended our Girls Get Science events, you know how inspiring it is to see lots of girls really into programming or building.

This is our first all-girls camp. All or almost all of our classes will be led by our female instructors. This is the SAME curriculum we deliver in our co-ed classes; we would never! "dumb-down" our offerings for girls.

The only difference between this half-week camp and our other camps is that all of the campers will be girls. Girls are welcome in ALL of our camps and activities.

Class Descriptions:
Children will be assigned to groups based on age, experience and space!  Projects will be geared to each group’s age and ability!

Robotics: Girls will build and program robots using LEGO® Education’s award-winning WeDo robotics and programming software. Depending on their prior experience students will either follow step-by-step on-screen instructions to build their robots, and then build a suggested program to get their robots working, while those who are ready to build more on their own will be given a programming challenge, set by our instructors.  For our older, more advanced campers we have Lego Mindstorms.

Building Engineers. Your girls will have a blast learning the mechanical engineering while designing and building cool things like tower cranes, suspension bridges, marshmallow shooters and a Buckminster Fuller Dome.

Fun With Electricity! No, we won’t send your girl out with kite and key to play in a lightning storm. We’ve got something almost as fun in mind: playing with wires, batteries and lights to make some cool projects and learn the basics of electricity.

Crazy Contraptions:  Taking our engineering principles even further, we’ll be investigating the science behind mechanical devices and building our own contraptions such as crossbows and automata.
